The Presidency has denied claims that it approved a N30,000 palliative to every Nigerian who has a verified Bank Verification Number (BVN).
Early Saturday morning, fake news filtered into the air, alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved a stimulus package of N30,000 to Nigerians as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The statement, which went viral, was not signed, but attributed to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
However, Adesina, while debunking the information in his witter handle, said, “Fake news peddlers have concocted a statement, purportedly issued by me, saying FG will pay N30,000 to each Nigerian with BVN, to help them stock up before an impending national lockdown. Not me, the so called statement is hereby disclaimed.”
