The Economic Committee of West African States (ECOWAS) Secretariat Complex at Asokoro Abuja has been gutted by fire.
The fire outbreak was reported to have been started by suspected “electric spark” on the second floor of the expansive office complex around 8. 40pm.
As at the time of the incident, fire fighters had arrived and were seen putting out the fire that has reportedly affected the second and third floor accommodating the Department of Finance and Account of the Commission.
No official was willing to speak on the incident as security operatives also prevented news men from covering the fire incident and efforts to control the outbreak
Details of the extent of damages to the building and offices were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report Men of the Federal Fire Service were still clearing debris on both the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building.
