The Ogun State Youth Ambassador and BBNaija 2020 Lockdown winner, Laycon, has joined the growing list of celebrities to lend their voice to the protest against police brutality and an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The young man took to social media via his Instagram page to share a photo of himself holding a placard at the protest. The note on the placard demanded for an end to SARS as Laycon wondered if he would be the next victim.
He accompanied the photo with a lengthy caption where he mentioned some people who had lost their lives to police brutality and how their families had been altered forever because of it. He asked who would be held accountable for the killings.
Laycon also continued by saying that Nigerians were not even clamouring for basic amenities and that they were only asking not to get killed.
He said that an end should be brought to SARS as well as police brutality.
He wrote: “We are not asking for electricity or other basic amenities. We are simply asking for the right to live.
Can we live?
You’re meant to be our protectors. You’re meant to shield us from those than mean to harm us. But now you torment us.
Who is going to protect us from our protectors?
Have you no conscience?
Have you no heart?
This has gone on for far too long. We are tired and it is time to bring this Injustice to an End. A complete End! SARS Must End and So Must All Forms of Police Brutality.”
The reality star also ended his note by sympathising with people who had lost their lives or gotten injured due to the protests.
