Former Real Madrid President Dies After Contracting CoronaVirus

The former Real Madrid President Lorenzo Sanz has died after being hospitalized with coronavirus. His death was announced by his son.

 “My father has just passed away. He did not deserve this ending and in this way,” Sanz Jr. tweeted. “One of the best, bravest and hardest-working people I have ever seen. His family and Real Madrid were his passion,” he continued. Three days ago, his son Lorenzo Sanz Jr. a former basketball player said that his father had been admitted to a Madrid Hospital after suffering the symptoms of the coronavirus which had killed over 1,000 people in Spain.

Sanz Sr. was in charge of the Spanish giant from 1995-2000, overseeing two champions league titles. He claimed a place on the Real Madrid board in the mid-80s, when Ramon Mendoza was the president. He later replaced Mendoza as president in 1995. He died at age 76.
