Spain Records Drop in Deaths for the Second Day in a Row

A record of 950 people died in Spain on Thursday, bringing the total deaths in Spain at 11,744 second to Italy.

Recoveries over the last 24 hours stood at 3,706, making a total of 34,219. While the number of new cases slowed at 7,026, making the total of 124,736.

The Madrid region was the most affected, accounting for 40% of the deaths, 4,723, and 29% of the cases at 36,249. Meanwhile, the northeast region of Catalonia was second in place with 2,508 deaths.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is expected to extend the emergency measures and confinement declared on March 14, for another two weeks in order to get on top of the outbreak.
