Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has expressed interest in managing his former club in the future. Xavi wants to manage in La Liga and says managing the Catalan outfit would be the greatest privilege, but he has not ruled out a stint in the Premier League either.
He said: “That is my goal (managing Barcelona), but obviously, who doesn’t like the Premier League?”The football atmosphere, the packed stadiums and the people who play in the Premier League say it’s extraordinary.”The pressure is mounting on Ernesto Valverde as Barcelona have made a poor start to the defence of their La Liga title and lost again at the weekend.
However, Barcelona recovered in a midweek clash after claiming vital three-points in a 2-1 win against Villarreal. Xavi spent 17 years as a player at Camp Nou and managed over 750 appearances in all competitions for Barca during that time. The former Spain international helped the Catalan giants land eight La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns before departing for Qatari club Al Sadd in 2015.
Xavi is now managing Al Sadd after calling time on his playing career earlier this year and signed a two-year contract.
